Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-16

This Privacy Policy explains how Txtlate (the "Service") collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

1. What We Collect

Account data: email address (for sign-in), optional username.

Uploaded files: the EPUB / TXT / Markdown / SRT files you upload for translation, and the output files we produce.

Usage records: translation job metadata (filename, target language, character count, timestamps, API token usage, cost) for billing and customer support.

Payment data: handled by Stripe. We only store the Stripe customer ID, payment intent ID, and paid amount — never card numbers.

2. How We Use It

(a) Provide the translation service, (b) manage your account and credit balance, (c) respond to support requests, (d) detect abuse and fraud. We do not use your file contents to train AI models.

3. Third-Party Services

Supabase (database + auth): stores account and job metadata. Privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy

Cloudflare R2 (file storage): stores your uploaded files and translated outputs. Privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

US-based model provider (translation engine): text content you upload is sent to a US-based model provider for processing. The provider maintains an independent data retention policy for paid API users; your content is not used to train models.

Stripe (payments): handles all payment processing. Privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy

4. Cookies

The Service uses session cookies to maintain sign-in state, and a locale cookie to remember your language preference. No tracking or advertising cookies are used.

5. Data Retention

Uploaded files: automatically deleted from R2 30 days after translation completes. You may request earlier deletion from your dashboard.

Account data: fully removed within 30 days of account deletion, except for payment records required to be retained by law.

Usage records: job metadata and token usage retained for 2 years for financial audit and service improvement.

6. Your Rights

At any time you may: (a) access your personal data, (b) request correction of inaccuracies, (c) request deletion of your account and associated data, (d) request data portability (JSON export). Submit requests via email to hi@txtlate.com.

7. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS. Supabase and R2 encrypt data at rest. Service credentials are rotated periodically. While we apply reasonable safeguards, absolute security cannot be guaranteed — please do not upload highly sensitive material.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. If we discover a minor user, we will delete their account and associated data promptly.

9. Changes

Material changes to this Policy will be communicated via email. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.

10. Contact

Privacy-related questions can be sent via email to hi@txtlate.com of your account.
